Alabama Wildlife Federation

The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama, which was established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of our wildlife and natural resources and to ensure a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians. The AWF strives to educate our children about the wonders of Alabama’s outdoors including our rich natural history and biodiversity through its conservation education programs—its Alabama Outdoor Classroom Program and Alabama Nature Center.

The Alabama Outdoor Classroom Program provides support and technical assistance to Kindergarten – 12th grade public and private schools to help them develop, use and maintain a schoolyard wildlife habitat as a sustainable and effective outdoor classroom that can be used for hands-on, inquiry based activities with the students.

The AWF’s Alabama Nature Center provides a wide variety of conservation education programs for students of all ages utilizing its 360+ acres with nature trials, boardwalks, fish ponds, and creeks, and its Nature Plex with its interactive Discovery Hall, theater, classrooms, and live educational animals.
